Fighting Food Insecurity After Incarceration
Access to food is one of the most urgent challenges people face when returning home from incarceration. For many, the gap between release and securing basic resources like SNAP benefits can deepen food insecurity and instability. Lioness helped bring attention to these gaps by lifting the stories and experiences of directly impacted people, helping shift conversations toward solutions that center dignity, care, and immediate access to essential support.
Improving Medical Transport
In Texas prisons, people seeking medical care often face long, punishing transports while shackled, denied bathroom access, and subjected to degrading strip searches. Many avoid critical medical care to avoid this treatment. We helped expose these harmful practices and push for changes that uphold dignity and ensure access to care.
