Organizar

We organize because lasting change starts with people. We bring people in Texas together to build relationships, grow as leaders, and act on the issues shaping our lives. This is how we build power.

Statewide and Regional Meetings

Our statewide meetings keep members, allies, and supporters connected to Lioness’s shared vision. Regional meetings offer space to share resources and talk about what is happening in our local communities. Lead Organizers guide these regional groups through kinship-grounded mental health support and coordinated calls to action.

Leadership Development

We believe leadership already exists in our community. Our role as an organization is to help people recognize it, strengthen it, and use it with confidence and care.

Through training and mentorship, our members grow as organizers, facilitators, storytellers, public speakers, and advocates. Some become Lead Organizers or take on other roles within Lioness. Others carry what they learn into their families and workplaces.

Many directly impacted people learned to lead while they were still trying to survive. We teach members how to make room for healing and rest so they can lead in ways that are healthy and sustainable.

Member Relations

Every member has a meaningful way to stay involved in Lioness, whether they are incarcerated or in the free world.

But we pay particular attention to inside members because incarceration makes it harder to stay informed and take part in the work.

Through quarterly newsletters and regular correspondence, inside members tell us what they are experiencing and what needs attention. We track patterns and use what they share to shape our advocacy.

Members returning from incarceration can connect with regional groups, leadership development opportunities, statewide meetings, and other parts of Lioness so that coming home means staying connected in community.
