Maggie’s passion is fueled by her own lived experience with system involvement. Just one year after her release from prison, Maggie began advocating for women’s dignity inside our jails and prisons. While working the Texas’s legislative sessions, she has demanded that lawmakers hold the criminal justice system accountable for it's poor treatment of women and girls. A graduate of the Smart Justice Speakers Bureau at Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and a Just Leadership USA (JLUSA) graduate from the 2022 cohort, Maggie also coordinates the Statewide Leadership Council.
